Media and Communications Officer
£23-25,000 • Woodstock, Oxfordshire
The Plunkett Foundation helps rural communities through community-ownership to take control of the issues affecting them. We support rural communities to set up and run community-owned shops, other community-owned services and community food and farming enterprises. Through our work, we help these communities to create thriving places where people can enjoy living and working now and in the future.
Join us as Media and Communications Officer and you will work across the Plunkett Foundation as well as play a key role in the success of the Making Local Food Work programme which we lead. This groundbreaking initiative, supported by £10 million funding by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and delivered in partnership with seven national organisations, aims to help communities across England to take ownership of their food and where it comes from through supporting a range of community food enterprises including farmers' markets, food co-operatives and community support agriculture.
Working with internal staff and closely with project partners, you will represent the views of Plunkett Foundation and Making Local Food Work to press and media. You will also be responsible for helping to effectively delivery our communication plans, which will include the distribution of news releases and other communication tools. You will also act as the principal point of contact for communications and media enquiries and manage two public websites to promote activities and share information.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a passion for the ability of people and communities to do the most extraordinary things. If you are educated to degree level, with excellent communication skills and experience of press and media relations, this could be your chance to make your mark.
